Fitting In

Back when I used to run on the treadmill at my parents' house, I felt like I'd mastered the machine because I would go faster and get better every day. Then I'd put on some incline—oh, 3 percent or so. Then I'd try to go just as fast as I had on the flat surface and it killed me. I'd lost all control I once had over the stupid machine. I sort of feel like that every time I try something new. But I've learned to embrace the feeling—that is, instead of feeling like it's killing me I tell myself it's "challenging" me. Much better.

You might be wondering, "What does all this have to do with sewing table runners?" Well, I will tell you. (President Uchtdorf, anyone?)

I married into a pretty talented family. If you don't believe me, look here, here, or here. I'm telling you—talented. And creative. So with their help, I've taken a little dive into the quilting world—and it's been Blissful. It's fun AND hard, especially when ric rac is involved. (Feel free to correct my spelling on that.) Which is what a hobby should be. Right?

Long story short—as soon as I can get this "stippling" thing under control, and throw on a binding (no big deal, right?), it'll be done. (Just don't look too closely at the piecing. Or the stippling.) But I'm just so excited to have made it this far, I couldn't wait to post about it. Hope you don't mind.
