Just Popping In

We're still here, I promise. And contrary to what the blog says we've been up to for the last month (which is nothing) we've actually been studying, cleaning, packing, storing, moving, traveling, raspberry-blowing, relaxing, Tetris-playing, and rolling our little hearts out. I'll let you guess who's doing what.

We also got some family pictures taken (by our oh-so-sweet friend Tiffany) that I want to show you all. So here's the update, all illustrated and everything. With parentheses in each paragraph. And you thought I'd forgotten how to blog ...

WE are moving to Texas next week, and for now are staying in Idaho with our parents for a few weeks. It has been heavenly. Lyla decided to be a big girl and has learned a new trick just about every day. Her grandparents have loved having her around and we have loved spending some much-needed family time here. We think Lyla loves her grandparents, too—she has loved having new faces to look at (and grab).

RYAN finished his fourth year of college. People usually call that "graduating," but for Ryan it means there's just one more year left until he has his master's. (Five years for a bachelor's and a master's? Not bad.) He has an internship in Dallas this summer and we can't wait to get there.

BRE ... ahem, I ... was the chief organizer/packer in our move to Texas before Ryan finished school and remained chief Lyla feeder and household item organizer in the craziness that followed. Since we came to Idaho I've been brainstorming new ideas for books (I think I've finally come up with a substantial plan), sewing Lyla a new dress, beating Ryan's Tetris records and chatting with family. I have to admit, I love a good chat.

LYLA started this trip with a good dose of raspberry blowing but has decided that is so two weeks ago. Now she giggles at her cousins (especially Sydney) and gives out smiles like they're going out of style. She's also getting frustrated with the whole rolling thing and tries to crawl to her toys. We are in trouble.

In short, the last few weeks have given us a much-needed break before our summer adventures begin. Ryan thinks we should take a month-long vacation every year, and I have to say I'm on board. Maybe I'll poke my head in again in a few days, but it's time to go meet Ryan's parents for dinner. It's a tough job, but somebody has do it.
