Auction for the Geislers

When I was in the hospital a few weeks ago, I got the sweetest Facebook message. One of Ryan's close childhood friends, Damen Geisler, had linked to this blog from his wife's and she had started reading it. Aleece sent her love and concern and told me their little family—Damen, Aleece and their sweet six-month-old daughter Audrey—was praying for us and for Nora's safe arrival.

Now it's our turn to help and pray for them.

Damen received a liver transplant in 2007 due to an autoimmune disease. He was recently hospitalized for severe infections, liver failure and issues relating to a precancerous colon. He is in End Stage Liver Failure and waiting for a second life-saving transplant. Obviously, he can't return to work anytime soon. Aleece has been doing all she can, balancing her job as a nurse while trying to take care of Audrey. But as you can imagine, they could use some help.

Here's the fun part! There's an online auction happening today until 6 p.m. MT (but you don't have to be local to bid!) and 100 percent of everything earned there will go to the Geislers.

And there are some great products and services up for bid! Some of you might know my mother-in-law Bonnie owns a quilt pattern company, Cotton Way. She's auctioning off one of my very favorite quilts, Orange Marmalade, which is made from the Marmalade fabric line she and her daughter Camille designed for Moda. Isn't it delicious?

There are also cupcakes from The Cocoa Bean, date night deals from Fat Cats, cooking mixes from the Prepared Pantry (a personal favorite of mine) and dozens of other products and services from restaurant gift cards to home appraisals to home decor to baby accessories to groceries to fitness classes to Klim gear and everything in between. Even if your budget is limited, starting bids are surprisingly affordable and every little bit helps.

Seriously, you guys. You should go look around. And good luck to Damen and Aleece—we're cheering for you!
