Year in Review

Well, 2011, you were a good year. In short, you were the year of Lyla—I spent most of the year pregnant, and she made her sweet little debut just in time for the holidays. But there were other high points too, and since I didn't exactly stick with my 2011 goal to blog once a week (oops), here's a little year in review.

January
I started a new job.
Ryan began another semester at BYU.
We played a lot of Wii and did a lot of sewing, giving our Christmas presents plenty of exercise.

February
We went to a LOT of BYU basketball games and caught Jimmer fever. Like, burned up with it.
I finished my first quilt.
We celebrated the third annual Olaveson Family Africa Day, in celebration of Ryan's mission.


March
Established a family tradition: March Madness brackets all around. We're excited to see Lyla's picks in 2012. (We hope she's a Cougar fan.)
I turned 23.
We found out we were having a baby.
April
I won the Bennett Family bracket.
Ryan applied for the MISM (Master of Information Systems Management) program.
My department was eliminated, leaving me without a job.


May
We moved to a new (bigger) apartment.
Ryan started an internship in the Church's IT department.
Ryan was accepted into the MISM program.

June
We celebrated our anniversary in Logan.
We went to the Manti Pageant with Jacob and Sarah.
We made the official blog baby announcement.


July
Ryan ran the Speedy Spaniard—a 10K in Spanish Fork.
We family reunion-ed it up in Idaho.
We found out we were having a healthy little girl.


August
Ryan finished his internship at the Church.
We drove to Chicago to sightsee and visit Jacob and Sarah.
Ryan started the MISM program.


September
Ryan launched into his busiest semester yet.
I started to settle into my new calling.
We started really making preparations for baby.


October
Had a fun baby shower in Idaho over general conference weekend.
Ryan flew to Texas for two internship interviews, and was offered a position at PepsiCo. We readily accepted.
Ryan turned 25.


November
I accelerated labor by doing some major shopping with my mom and sister.
Baby Lyla made her debut.
We celebrated our most grateful Thanksgiving yet.


December
Ryan finished his first semester of his master's program.
Lyla celebrated her first Christmas.
We finished the year surrounded by family and friends.

Thanks to all who made our year so spectacular. We're looking forward to an even better year in 2012, and how can it not be? Lyla will be here for all of it.
