2012

Goodbye, 2012.

When you began, I was crying in a closet over nothing while battling the baby blues. You just got better after that.

In 2012, I settled into a groove with my new baby and new life. I started freelance writing in earnest and built my sort-of-business into more than I thought I could.

We packed up our little family and moved halfway across the country. I learned to love Texas. We visited Kansas City and San Antonio and went to a Rangers game and celebrated the Fourth and went swimming a lot. We had adventures with animals and watched Bachelorette Emily fall in love with One F.

Then we came back to the Mountain West. I fell in love with the mountains again. We went to a family reunion. One successful waterski and one trip to the ER later, we went back to Utah.

I finished the first draft of my first book. We celebrated Ryan's birthday/Halloween and Lyla's birthday. We went to a BYU game in the snow. I sewed three quilts for Christmas gifts.

2012 started out cold, then got warm, then grew cold again. Lyla began as a tiny infant and has become an almost-toddler. I made and kept half a dozen New Year's resolutions. I laughed. I cried. I turned 24. 2012, it's been real.

2013, I'm glad to meet you. I have a great feeling about you.

Thirteen has always been our favorite number.
