Feels Like Home

For a while I was a little wary about posting photos of our home over here.

It's not that I don't love our home. I marvel every day at how beautiful and new and clean and big it feels. There's plenty of room for our family, it has the perfect place for me to work on my book and plenty of room for Lyla to play. We even have an entertainment center that isn't lime green. (RIP, lime green giant. I miss you but it was time to move on.)

Our home isn't going to grace the covers of any magazines. Our home decor is a hodgepodge of the inherited, the purchased, the handmade, the gifted, the mixed, the matched, the mismatched. The things on the walls are meaningful to us, even if others don't know why.

Our home is our own. I love it. And I'm going to share it. Commence photo collage.

Clearly, I'm not a professional photographer or interior designer. But I'm on board with Stacy Risenmay, who put it this way:

"If you wait until you have enough money to decorate and make your home your own it will never happen. If you wait until you can afford to buy everything new you are missing the point. It is the old, the new, the made, the hand-me-down, the collected, the worn (but loved) things in your home that make it your own."

Tara said...: Amen! I read that quote for the first time this week and I've really been pondering it and acting on it. I love your home and think it looks great!
