Obsession Confession

After five years or so, I'm ready admit that I might have a teensy tiny problem. A little brown and blue problem.

It started in high school when I was flipping through Utah Valley Bride. There was a picture of a cake that was brown and blue, and I fell in love.

I was all about the combination after that. A majority of my clothes were brown, blue, or some combination of the two. And as soon as I got the chance, I ordered my own brown and blue cake.

So this Christmas, when Ryan's sister said she'd picked out some fabric for me that she thought I'd love, I knew exactly what was coming.

And I loved it.

I used the fabric to make this quilt. It's the first one I've ever done on my own and it's sitting proudly on the couch in our front room. As you can imagine, there was already plenty of brown to go around.

I went right to work on this quilt after Christmas and I'm so happy with the way it turned out. I had a rough start with it (Note: ALWAYS make sure you're using a quarter-inch foot on your sewing machine when you need it. Never assume), but in the end it came together beautifully in all its brown-and-blueness.

I've even already broken it in:

in the best possible way.

If all the piecing, quilting and binding has taught me anything, it's this: if loving a color combination this much is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Easy Breezy Beautiful

If you've been around southeastern Idaho lately
And if you've stopped by any sort of wedding shop
You might have seen a little magazine called Idaho Wedding Guide.

You might have thought, "Hey, I think I know those people."
And you might have sat for a minute to think about it.
Then you might have said to yourself, "I think that's Ryan and Breanna."

And you know what? You were right.

Our AMAZING photographer Jeff Smith is one of their advertisers, and he sent them this shot. It's one of our favorites (the sunset was gorgeous) and we're still blushing over the fact that they chose us.

That's one for the family history, that is.

We're a FAMILY!

We've been married a month on Monday! I know, I know, that's nothing, but we're SO EXCITED.

This month, we:

2. Honeymooned in Vegas

3. Hung out with some cool characters while we were there,


















4. Made a blue friend,

(three, actually)
5. Came home and bought a plunger at 11 p.m.
6. Used the plunger at midnight
7. Sifted through our wedding gifts


8. Bought a DVD player with gift cards
9. Watched a million DVDs
10. Went to dinner with a great friend

11. Made banana bread
12. Made no-bakes
13. Left the no-bakes on our roof of the Beetle on our way to my parents' house
14. Started keeping receipts
15. Paid our first gas and electric bills
16. Had a rockin' Fourth


17. Debated the pros and cons of paying an extra dime for Yoplait yogurt
18. Went boating with the Olavesons and the shared cousins
19. Wrote hundreds of Thank You cards


21. Loved every minute of it
